The sinsod for me is means guy he accept thai culture to respect and thank you my parents, my mother who look after me since baby till this day. It's just small present to say THANK YOU from groom ( It's really can not say how much money could be enought to give to parent nursing child, what they gave and take care of us, till now.)

I knew and belive that in eruopean countries children never do that to theire parents or even support them after they get old or retired. And even on wedding day parents not even give a present to daugther in-law. but thai culture we give a present like Silk,Pillow, Loincloth ete., to Groom and his family. it's not much it's nice to show that we are a family.
A couple traditionally becomes engaged during a ceremony known as “Khan Mark”
Khan Mark Processing is part of a Thai wedding tradition in which the groom formally carries the tray of engagement to the bride's family).

The most interesting part of the wedding ceremony is a procession of "khan Mark"Top hat and tails, confetti and the bride blissfully carted off in a horse-drawn carriage to the sound of church bells is a rare scene in many Western countries these days.

In the past, the cost of a lavish wedding was placed squarely on the shoulders of the bride and her family, who were also responsible for raising a dowry for the groom. But today, the amount of money and value of the items are stipulated by the girl’s parents and paid to them. It's depend of both side should be agree or prefer to give. Some families might use the sinsod to boast about their daughter’s fine catch, but its traditional purpose is to compensate for her lost financial contribution.

Western males aren’t let off so lightly if marrying a Thai, however, as‘khan Mark’ , sinsod and tolls are still taken seriously. ‘khan Mark’ is a traditional ceremony in which the groom offers SinSod-gifts to the bride’s family!!
How much...
Former Miss Universe Pornthip Nakhirunkanok recently cost American millionaire Herb Simon Bt9.99 million in cash, nine gold bars of five-baht weight each and Bt60 million worth of jewellery – not to mention the untold number of Bt500 tolls and the Bt430-million house in Los Angeles. Goodness knows whether Herb got his money back as a wedding present, but he stood more chance of that with a rich family than anyone would from a poor one.

In a middle-class environment, a sinsod of up to Bt100,000 and between five- and 10-baht weight in gold is usual, although Bt400,000 has been known for a goddess with a master’s degree. In this bracket, a friend of mine paid Bt50,000, no tolls at the wedding and bought a house in his wife’s family name.

The ‘khan Mark’ procession is accompanied by the exhilarating beat of long drum troupe and the groom is accompanied by an entourage of relatives and close friends in a colorful ‘Khan Mark’ Parade.
